PlayStation Vita Cross Play advertisement

So here’s my second media blog about the PlayStation Vita Cross Play advertisement. Enjoy.

The advertisement is 31 seconds long. Its part of an ads campaign that Sony launched to promote the new PlayStation Vita. I first saw it while watching a new episode of the Simpsons Monday afternoon, and it caught my eye.

It starts with a view of a city with six lanes of traffic then goes to the protagonist who is sitting playing games on his PlayStation 3 at home while the narrator says,” It’s a problem as old as gaming itself: stay home and just keep playing, or get to work on time so your coffee-breathed boss doesn’t ride you like a rented scooter.” He then switches to the PlayStation Vita and walks out of his living room and down stairs so he can go to work, while the narrator says,” Who says you have to choose.” Goes down his stairs and into the city, crosses a street and then walks onto a raised pedestrian platform playing on the PlayStation Vita, and the final part of the narration: “Your PlayStation 3 stays home but the game goes with you.” Ends with a picture of the vita and the Sony brand name and their motto: “Make Believe.”

Here's the PlaySation Vita CrossPlay advertisement:

Analyze.

Pretty much I see bandwagon, because your not a true gamer unless you can walk to work while play a video game. And little bit of hidden-fear because you don’t want to be fired from your job for staying home and playing.

Interpret.

I haven’t seen advertisements similar to this one, but that might just be me I’ve got a DVR and skip the ads.To my mind gamers are the target of this advertisement. in particular gamers who want to keep gaming. It has gamers as a stereotype I don’t find that personally offensive, but I’m not really a gamer.

Evaluate.

Its biggest strength come from being very gamers oriented, but that is also its biggest weaknesses. I’d say it most memorable in my mind because of the creative use of camera shots. I liked the advertisement, but I’m not that much of a gamer so I wouldn’t buy the Vita.

A Desperate Man

NCIS

A Desperate Man, Episode: 209

The episode started out like most, a couple is looking at a condo to buy and finds a dead body of a navy lieutenant commander. After the exiting intro with music and graphics, you see two of the main character Anthony “Tony” Dinozzo and Timothy McGee in the NCIS main building talking about relationships. Ziva David, in a bad mood, walks in and Tony try find out what is wrong.  But, she won’t say, but Tony knows it is Ray. This foreshadows that Ziva man problems are only going to get worse. Then Leroy Jethro Gibbs walks in and they are off to solve a mystery.

The NCIS team investigates the death of a navy lieutenant whose body was found at a construction site. The navy Lieutenant’s husband is a police detective. he shows up drunk and demanding to know about the investigation. There are some questions about what the lieutenant had been working on.  Abby Sciuto tells Gibbs that the shooter was on the roof of a building across the street. The team finds the husband back at the crime scene. They look closer at the husband who has recently purchased a new boat. He said his wife had bought the boat and he just misses her. They find out that the Lieutenant has been working in Pakistan on something outside her regular job.

While the team works the case, Ziva meets with Ray to talk about how he knew the Lieutenant. Ray pleads with Ziva for forgiveness; he had stood her up for dinner. He begs for a second chance, saying he loves her and asks her to marry him. Ziva is shocked; she will have to think about it. Tony talks to Ziva about marriage.

Back to work they search the Lieutenant’s husband’s boat. They find newspaper clippings and personal journal. They soon learn she was looking for a traitor who had used her high level security codes to access classified information. The traitor was found dead; the breaks of his car were tampered with.

Ziva has a bad feeling and asks Abby to help track phone calls she had got from Ray. She knows Ray had been working with the Lieutenant, but something had gone wrong. Ray had gone without orders and killed the Lieutenant while trying to kill the traitor on U.S. soil. Ziva tells him she could never live with him; he had killed a woman that a man loved. He had ruined many lives, did he not understand. Ray wants her to forget about it all and marry the man she loved. “That man is gone”

Ziva leaves with Gibbs. Later, the husband mistakes Tony and Ziva as a couple, but they laugh it off-“No” He tells them to hang on to what they’ve got.

In my opinion this series is one of the best on TV. It has well developed characters, interesting plots and good action scenes. The NCIS team are more than just coworkers, they take on rolls of a family. Gibbs is the father, Tony is like the eldest son, Ziva the strong daughter, McGee the techie and Abby is the baby sister. These characters not only work to solve the case, but show emotional connection to each other.
